My neighbor brought over her bread machine yesterday. She was very insistent to follow the recipe exactly, so my daughter and I followed the manual’s recipe for wholewheat bread with care. I went to add the next-to-last ingredient – wholewheat flour – only to find we only had white flour. I figured this was a failed trail run, and left to pick up groceries with the kids. We came home to a house filled with that yummy bread smell, and the timer went off. Bing! An amazingly tasty fresh bread snack – we embraced our mistake whole-heartedly!
